Live-Action Movie ‘Kishibe Rohan wa Ugokanai Zange-shitsu’ Commemorated with Four Related Books Releasing This May!

The latest live-action film in the spin-off series `Kishibe Rohan wa Ugokanai`, based on the original work from `JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken`, titled `Kishibe Rohan wa Ugokanai Zange-shitsu`, is set to premiere on May 23, 2025. To celebrate this upcoming release, four related books will be hitting the shelves between May 16 and May 23.

`JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken` is a manga masterpiece by Araki Hirohiko, which began its serialization in “Weekly Shounen Jump” in the combined 1st and 2nd issue of 1987. It tells the epic saga of the Joestar family’s bloodline and destiny, starting with the fateful meeting of two boys, Jonathan Joestar and Dio Brando.

This grand narrative unfolds with a unique structure where the protagonist changes with each part, from Part 1 to Part 9. The series boasts over 120 million copies in cumulative circulation. Its distinctive posing, innovative sound effects, and unique dialogue style, along with its original world view, have earned it support from many creators and high popularity worldwide. Currently, Part 9, `The JOJOLands`, is being serialized in “Ultra Jump.”

`Kishibe Rohan wa Ugokanai` is a spin-off series from the aforementioned work. It is a collection of bizarre anecdotes chronicling the experiences heard and seen by the popular manga artist Kishibe Rohan, who resides in Morioh Cho, during his various reporting trips. The latest live-action movie, `Kishibe Rohan wa Ugokanai Zange-shitsu`, marks the first time a Japanese film has been shot entirely in Venice. It depicts a high-quality suspense story born from sinful “confessions,” with Takahashi Issei reprising his starring role from the drama series.

Among the books released to commemorate the film’s opening are `Kishibe Rohan Jump`, which collects the original story “Zange-shitsu” (Confession Room) that the live-action movie is based on, as well as all episodes that have been adapted into live-action dramas. This special compilation will be released on May 16. Following shortly after, on May 19, comes `Kishibe Rohan wa Ugokanai` latest comics Vol. 3, featuring the stories “Hot Summer Martha,” “Dripping Painting Method,” and “Bruschetta.”

Purchasers of both `Kishibe Rohan Jump` and `Kishibe Rohan wa Ugokanai` Vol. 3 will be entered into a joint present campaign for a chance to win one of 300 “JOJO Special Ring Notebooks,” featuring the cover illustration from Vol. 3.

Furthermore, coinciding with the movie’s release date of May 23, the fifth volume of the `JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken` dedicated mook series, `JOJO magazine 2025 SUMMER`, will be released simultaneously with `Eiga Novelize Kishibe Rohan wa Ugokanai Zange-shitsu`, the fastest novelization of the movie.
